Deodorants

Why use Natural Deodorants?

We use basic natural ingredients to formulate our deodorants so that they effectively eliminate odor without blocking pores and sweat glands. In most antiperspirant and non-natural deodorants, aluminum is used to block sweat glands; but this element can also be absorbed by the skin and cause changes in estrogen receptors of breast cells (i.e. can promote the growth of cancer cells, specifically breast cancer cells due to the proximity of the application). Parabens are also used in these deodorants which, likewise, stimulate estrogen and promote the growth of cancer cells. Other main ingredients of non-natural deodorants may include Propylene Glycol (a neurotoxin originally developed as an anti-freeze), TEA/DEA (pH adjustment chemicals that can be toxic if absorbed into the body over long periods of time), Triclosan (an artificial antimicrobial chemical causing skin irritation and encouraging bacterial resistance to antibiotics), and TALC (used for its absorbent properties but is a carcinogen).

Most people just look for a good scent and antiperspirant deodorant so they don’t have to worry about sweat or smelling bad, but aren’t aware of the dangers they are putting their bodies in. With Subdue Apothecary deodorants, you can be assured that the ingredients used are naturally derived and safe for your skin, while still providing odor absorbent properties and a pleasant scent. Our deodorants each vary in benefits due to their unique and differing scents and ingredients. Some deodorants contain a some of these in a mixture that combines to support a healthy armpit flora without blocking the sweat glands (like antiperspirants do).
